The company Intuit which was founded in 1983 came out with their fist accounting software named Quicken. This became very popular with small businesses that could then handle the accounting for the business with little or no experience. But professionals were not happy with non traditional accounting standards and the lack of security.
After a couple of upgrades to Quicken, Intuit then came out with QuickBooks in 2002. By 2005 QuickBooks took 74% of the market and was a huge success. Businesses can use Quickbooks for anything from printing checks to inventory management. With the multi-user version you an even do your bookkeeping QuickBooks online.
