Taking care of bank reconciliation can be very difficult. If you find the numbers are not matching then follow this bank reconciliation process if you are using QuickBooks.
First check the bank statement and make sure that the items on the statement match the items in QuickBooks.
In QuickBooks go to the banking reconcile, the reconciliation window will open.
Now select the account you would like to reconcile.
Put in the statement date that is shown on the bank statement.
Check the beginning balance in QuickBooks, it should be the same as the beginning balance in the bank statement.
Put in the ending balance from the bank statement.
Put in any service charges or interest earned.
Click continue and the reconcile window will open.
Check mark each item that shows up in QuickBooks that you also see on the statement.
If everything matches up then the difference in the right corner should be zero.
